Any idea's on new pre game drills? We are now playing the '5' just passing and the last one shoots, but after a few months it got bored. So looking for new drills! Any suggestions?
Hi Martijn,
Did you ever find some new pre game drills? Be great to hear what you went for.
I always like to initially split my players into their general field positions, and let them warm their stick and ball skills up with the people they will be playing with most in games. Once this has been done, allow your defense (and possibly a deep midfielder) to practice their transfer, making sure this is working smoothly. Modern Hockey seems very much dependent on this.
Have you tried having the rest of your team playing a small possession game, pulling players out to ensure your short corner injection, stop and flicker are reayd to go.
Once all this is complete, your above drill is usually a good one (I believe you are referring to a shot box). If this is becoming slightly repetitve, why not move away from having your players be static and create a slightly more dynamic version?
Hope this helps,
Josh
