Do the three backs pivot off the middle defender? Does anyone drop - just asking
Hi Mia,
Typically, if playing 3 4 3 in defence, the 3 defenders would be aware of the where the opposition`s 3 strikers are. They would position themselves based on the middle defender who has stepped up. So if the ball is on the left hand side of the pitch, the right defender will tuck in towards the centre, whilst aware of their opposite player and vice-versa if the ball is on the right. The middle defender who has stepped up higher to make a diamond shape in the middle would be the "free player" covering the line to goal.
Hope that helps!
