Hi Mandy,
Here are some easy and fun field hockey drills you can try with your team:
- Spy Tag: This is a great drill for younger players. All players have a stick and a ball, except one who is the "catcher." The catcher tags players, who then stand still until another player pushes the ball between their feet to free them.
- Pull Back and Lift: Set up cones in a staggered pattern. Players dribble through the cones, perform a pull-back at the end, and lift the ball over the top cones. It's excellent for improving ball control.
- Confusion: Players dribble around cones in a figure-eight pattern, improving their ability to change direction while maintaining control.
- Relays: Dribbling: Players dribble the ball onto another player's stick and move off at pace. This drill is great for improving dribbling speed and control .
These drills are not only simple but also engaging, making them perfect for keeping your sessions lively and fun.
I hope this helps,
Cam
