Hi Judy,

To teach midfielders to track back after losing the ball:

1. Emphasise Immediate Reaction: Train them to instinctively sprint back the moment possession is lost.

2. Define Marking Responsibility: Assign each midfielder a zone or player to cover when tracking back, so they know where to position themselves.

3. Drill Transition Scenarios: Use small-sided games where losing the ball means an immediate sprint back to defensive positions.

4. Reward Defensive Efforts: Acknowledge and reward effective tracking to build a habit.

Consistent practice will make tracking back automatic.
