With all the protective equipment now on the market,?

With all the protective equipment now on the market, does anyone know what the best Head protector and shoulder protector on the market is. Its for a hard hiiting 16 year old that doesnt hold back which is why im looking for the best. I know that protective gear isnt the be all and end all but it might help him in some situations. Thanks.

for head gear, i would suggest the Gilbert X-act head guard, i personally use it, the only draw back is the strap sucks, i had a seamstress put a new one on an it's great. as per shoulder pads, i bought a pair, but never use them, i find them bulky and irritating, if i had to reccomend any pair it would be the gilbert synergie 12 or the CCC Flexitop plus.

If this kid is an all out tackler as you say. You may want to make sure the pads have collar bone and sternum protection. I've had some flankers who were serious tacklers and they seemed to suffer in those areas. There are also neoprene shoulder braces you can wear under pads if you need a bit more support.
