any service to help stay better in touch with players by email or phone?
I use teamernet . com. Its a great site, doesn't cost a penny, and moreover, it helps keep players involved in the team too.
And, you can run as many teams as you want.
Thank you very much!I'll have a look. If anyone has any more ideas of how to make a coach's life easier on and off the pitch, it would be much appreciated.
Delegate!
I hold regular player, parent (for youth sides I coach) and teacher meetings. In these I try to sell my style of Rugby for 'buy-in'. I do not try to enforce my style or philosophy on a team, on the contrary, I run about 4 teams at the moment and I coach each of them differently because of their requirements, I believe that if you don't, conflict soon follows.
I'm there to assist them in becoming a successful team, not to boost my own ego. So many times I see coaches 'harrassing' young players from the touchline, it makes me cringe. I firmly believe that if you have to shout and scream at your players from the touchline, then you've failed as a coach. I see my job as giving the players enough tools in training so they can go out and make decisions on their own during a game. Offer positive words of advice at half time should be the coaches only interaction.
Delegate to the players, they're the ones who go out and put their bodies on the line and take the big hits.
its their team!
Thank you very much for all the good advice Dennis! I'm looking at the teamer.net website and was wondering as I can't find it on there, can you send emails out instead of text messages or both?
You can send both. You input both their email address and mobile, the site then sends a notification for the player to register. Once players have registered, you then set the starting lineup, click the 'notify' link, and the site sends out all the details to the players.
The player then has to reply either a Y or N and the site shows you the team availability.
Just to Back up Dennis's response. Teamer.net is very useful for predicting/managing attendance at training as well as at fixtures. Useful and simple to use. Worth a look and as he says - is free!
Rupert go and have a look at my sports book on the web its free
but isn't my sports book a betting website? If so, it most probably wouldn't pass vetting for use by a junior/youth team.....
