can anyoune suggest some line out moves for under 12s?

There are many considerations to this area of the game. I would first look to where we have strengths and weaknesses. An example would be that if your hooker has a weak throw, then you would have to target the centre or front of the line out. Where possible try to achieve mismatches on your throw, eg. tall player against short player. You might try a short throw to the front if you have a strong prop.If you have a team that has problems mauling then you would try to move the ball away from contact quickly. Defencively, I would have 2 of my tallest players competing for the ball , but I would encourage the rest of the pack to stand in a 3 point position. 3 point position is 2 feet on the ground with usually the hand being the 3rd, all facing forward. This will put them in a strong body position to defend. This concept will pay dividends later in thier developement.

Consider short lineouts with movement if your having problems else where

have you considered moving the players at the lineout to create the mismatch and to create space. too often a player lines up next to his opposite number and never moves for the ball except to jump up.. the idea of putting your tallest players in the lineout is great i will do that for my next game (poor prop will have to go in the back line!!!). once caught there are only a couple of options at u12 drive or pass out. i find the problem is getting the ball in the first place.
