What the method for sevens fitness for amateur teams
Hi Oscar,
I would recommend using conditioned games to build fitness, ensuring players have the ball in their hand and are performing under fatigue. If you simply make your players run it can decrease player motivation and takes an element of fun out of training.
Here's a great drill you could give a try. It develops players ability to carry out fundamental skills under fatigue which is extremely relevant to the game of sevens. It also ensures players are working for the whole duration, with tries being awarded if all members of the team are in the player zone; encouraging players to always support the ball carrier.
Hope this helps.
