Pass and switch positions

The player without the ball (player 2) runs towards the opposite cone and communicates to their partner that they are ready to receive the ball. After making the straight pass player 1 runs to the opposite cone to receive a square pass from player 2. Player 2 must adjust their body and footwork in order to receive the ball.

2 players pass the ball at each other through the channel. The interceptor has to stand outside the channel and try to stop the ball. When the player intercepts the ball they swap with the player that lost the ball.

Players have to pass the ball around the outside of the square with only 3 players. To make this possible, the player after the pass has to move to the empty corner (any direction).

3 Players with one ball between them. To start just play a simple pass and then follow the ball to the back of the queue. As your players become more confident start getting your players to think about moving up the pitch with the ball. To do this spread the groups further apart and get the passing player to run a few steps with the ball before passing in front of the receiving player who moves out to meet the pass and then also takes a few steps before passing the ball.

Objective: To master the clip hit, often used as a progression to the full hit, but also very effective in a game situation. Purpose: It is a quicker hit than a full swing hit due to the fact the hands are lower down the stick, shorterning the swing and menaing you can get a quick hit away under pressure.  Structure: Pairs

Teams of 4 try and pass the ball across the pitch as quickly as possible, not missing any players out. Each player should at least touch the ball twice. The first team to pass the ball 10 times across the pitch is the winner.

Exercise starts with the ball being played to the half back, then down the line for a player running out to receive. This player should then control the ball before switching it across to the center half. The center half then passes the ball to the Inside-forward who then passes the ball to the far post for the original receiver to run onto and score. The next ball starts immediately after on the opposite side for the player to lead out and receive the ball, pass it to the Center Half. The Center Half then passes the ball to the next channel and the ball should be passed to the far post for the player who started the move to receive and finish.

The player on the left passes the ball into the path of the player on the right. When this player receives the ball they continue to run with with it before passing the ball to the player on the far post who then has shot on goal. The player passing to the far post continues to run after their pass and takes up a new position by the right post. The practice can now start again from the other side.

4 players with 2 balls. One player in the middle is tightly marked. One of the players with the ball passes the ball at the marked player who then wall passes the ball back to this player for him/her to run with the ball to the other side. Then the 2nd player with the ball does the same once on the other side. Turn and repeat role reversal in the middle.

Players start alternate with the ball from two cones on the 23 meter line. They pass the ball diagionaly across for the opposite player to receiv eth ball on the move and to continue running with the ball and have a shot from the top of the circle.

Set up a square grid 5x5m with one player in the middle and 3 players on the outside and one player passing the ball into the player in the centre of the grid. Players on the outside cannot intercept the ball coming into the grid they can only try to stop the player in the middle coming out of the grid. The players on the outside of the grid can only enter the grid once the player has received the ball.

create forward passes by transferring the ball The 3 blue players are trying to pass the ball through one of the 3 goals in the middle of the area to one of the three players on the opposite side. They can do this by running with the ball, dummy passing or transferring the ball between them to draw to two defenders out of position and create space for the pass. The 2 defenders can only intercept the ball. When they do so they have to try and and pass the ball over the back line behind the 3 blue players who just lost the ball.

Player start with a ball outside the circle and have to hit or slap/sweep hit the ball to the far post for the player on the far post to be able deflect the ball into the goal.
