5 Cone Square Drill incorporating Fitness, Agility, Speed and catching. Suited to individual or pair work.
Player runs into the square upon completing a ladder/hurdle skill to cone A. Trainer then hits a line drive to the player at Cone A. Player then runs around cone B and returns to Cone A for a catch. Player then runs around cone C and returns to cone A for a catch. Player then runs around cone D and returns to cone A for a catch. Player then finally runs around cone E and returns back to cone A for the last catch. Once all catches have been completed, the player exits the square via the ladder/hurdle. This drill is meant to encourage fast feet, agility and good reactions. Other variations include: Using different colours for the cones with the coach/trainer nominating which cone the fielder needs to run around Assigning numbers to the cones with the coach/trainer nominating which cone to run around Combining colours of cones/numbered cones/alphabetical orders for nominations to test the players awareness and reactions. This drill can be done for time
