Early Developmental Practice 2: Striking vertical

DESCRIPTION

Practice outcomes: Understand head position for vertically striking shots Understand necessity of transfer of weight towards the line of the ball Develop appropriate bat path for vertical striking shots Practice orginisation: Players to adopt stance in front of stumps with bat in hand One disc under each foot in normal batting stance Third disc to be placed next to the low tee (comfortable distance away to hit) Players to effect step and backswing sequence, placing front foot on third disc and striking ball from low tee Players aim to hit and follow through on the line of the ball Equipment Per Station: Stumps Three coloured discs Low batting tee Soft ball Bat

COACHING POINTS

Each player should be balance when striking the ball Players should strike the ball wIth a full face of the bat Players should be watching the ball when striking the ball
