Creating Match Conditions

Replicating game pressure:

Scoreboard pressure: Setting targets and scenarios that demand specific performance.

Time constraints: Creating urgency through limited overs or time.

Crowd simulation: Adding noise and distraction to build concentration.

Scenario-Based Practice

DESCRIPTION

Simple to set up and adaptable depending on the age and skill of your group, this fielding drill works 4 different fielding disciplines in 1 ideal for a group of 6 - but works very well with a 2nd group to add a competitive edge. Player and coach start at the stumps with player setting off to the 1st cone to receive a low catch thrown by the coach and returns the ball. Player moves to 2nd cone to receive a high catch... 3rd cone to receive the ball for a long barrier stop Then to the side to attack a short roll for 1H pick up and underarm throw. Return to the back of the group then next player comes in. After going through once you can repeat with the 1H pick up from the other side. If you have enough players - 2 groups in a race works really well!

COACHING POINTS

Composure required to ensure in a set position for catches Good accurate throws especially when competitive Release of the ball early by coach when players back is turned adds to difficulty as player needs to locate
