Blasters are split up into groups of 2-4 The first fielder starts at the ornage cone Another player starts behind the second set of stumps as the wicket keeper. All other players wait behind the blue cone The coach sends a flatball catch to the fielder, who throws the ball back The fielder then runs to any yellow tee cone and throws a ball at the opposite stumps The fielder runs back to receive a second catch, and returns ball to the coach Repeat until all balls at the yellow tee cones have been thrownCompetition:5 points for catching ball from coach10 points for throwing a direct hit at stumps Points challenge can be between each player in one group OR between each group working as a team. Add up scores after whistle is blown.
Progressions: Start with underarm throws. If that is too easy, progress to over arm throws. If that is too easy, have the player bowl the ball If underarm throws are still a challenge, ask the player to roll a scorcher ball at the stumps Throwing underarm:- one foot forward- point to target with the opposite hand- throwing arm winds up and throws ball- throwing hand should finish, pointing at target Throwing overarm:- Stand side onto target (like a surfer)- Point at the target- Slightly bend knees- Throw the ball towards target- Legs step through Catching:- Soft hands- Cup hands together - Watch the ball all the way into their hands
