"The Beach Sprint Game" (5-10min) The kids (blue) are lined up on the centre line (snow) and all facing the coach (yellow). To their left they have a line marked out by blue cones which can be called anything relating to blue and on their right is a yellow line which can be called anything relating to yellow. Explain to the kids they have to copy your active movements (running on the spot, jumping jacks, etc.) on the centre line until the coach yells out either yellow or blue (sand or ocean). The kids have to race to the line. Progressions: Start with yellow and blue and then add sand and ocean for e.g. so there is 2 options for each side. Keep changing active movements. Try give points out for winners instead of eliminating losers. After a few rounds, tell them is opposite day and they have to go to the opposite colour of what you yell. Try and trick them by yelling one colour and pretending to run the other way.
