Players are divided into pairs and a tackler and ball carrier nominated for each pair. Each ball carrier is encouraged to hold the ball in two hands throughout the exercise. Tacklers and ball carriers form two lines facing each other separated by no more than 10m. The tackler and the ball carrier from each pair face each other. Players in each line are spaced at least 5m apart to avoid collisions. On the signal from the coach, players in each pairing move towards each other and the tackler makes a front on blocking tackle.
