Community | Crosscourt Windshield Wiper Rally

Andrio Visser Coach, Australia

DESCRIPTION

· Start the rally, by feeding or hitting a cooperative forehand crosscourt to begin a continues rally · The target; both players must aim exclusively into the diagonal service box to baseline crosscourt channel · The focus: Players use a modern “windshield wiper” follow-through over the shoulder, focusing on bending the knees and staying low during contact · Pause Rule; Once the player hits the ball, they have to freeze for about 2 seconds, in the position their body is in. Once they count to two they recover back into the ready position Goal: trying to achieve 10 successful hits in a row, then switch to back hands

COACHING POINTS

To make the exercise more fun, make the net act like the ‘river’, and tell your players that they need to pass the ball back and forth 10 times in a row without a mistake and each time they hit it over the river(net) they successfully ‘crossed the river’. However, each time they ball hits the net, they ‘fall in the river’ and their score gets reset to zero. Once they have successfully done it on forehands, move to back hands.
