DRILL TYPE: Tennis Skills FOCUS: Groundstrokes Progressions SKILL LEVEL: Red/Orange Ball 1 EQUIPMENT: (12) Youth Racquets (4) 18â Small Nets (1) Basket of Red/ Foam Balls SETUP: Place the 4 small net down the center of the court. MISSION: Divide your players into two groups. Break down the forehand, sideways to target, contact and follow-through. One player tosses underhand to the other group who hit a shorten version of a forehand. They start at side to target with their racquet at the contact point and make the hit and follow-through. The coach supervises and gives appropriate suggestions. Then move the players to the doubles sideline and add the backswing. Let the players drop-hit the forehand and then progress to the coach feed balls.
