DRILL TYPE: Tennis Skills FOCUS: Groundstrokes Progressions SKILL LEVEL: Red/ Orange Ball 1 EQUIPMENT: (2) 25â Youth Racquets (2) Quick Feet Donuts Red/ Foam Balls SETUP: Place 2 quick feet donut on the service line with the 2 racquets on the donuts. In the middle of the backcourt place 2 yellow throw down line for the safety line. The coach is on opposite side of the net with a basket of red or foam balls. DRILL: Divide your players into two groups and have them line up behind the two yellow throw down line. One at a time, a player from the two lines will move to the quick feet donut and picks up the racquet. The coach will hand feed the players with two balls. The players hit the balls over the net and then switch lines. The coach will move to the baseline after the players have mastered this technique. PROGRESSION: After they have mastered this technique, have a contest between the two teams, 1 point for each ball into the court. The objectives are the first court to reach 15 points wins the game.
