Player 1 runs towards goal, duels with the defender and tries to get a clear shot on goal.
After shooting the first player rotates and becomes the defender for the next player. Meanwhile the defender receive the ball from the goalkeeper and dribbles all the way to the other end of the court where they will then get to have a shot on goal.
After shooting the player will run to the mats/ benches/ cones and jump across the area and then jump across the second area before rejoining the back of the line.
In the jumping part of this drill get players to start in a low position and 'explode' into the jump before then landing low again and 'exploding' into the second jump.
This will be more physically demanding for your players and will work their plyometric endurance.
Handball demands explosive power, repeated sprint ability, and the strength to compete physically for 60 minutes. Sport-specific conditioning develops the athletic qualities that underpin elite performance.
Handball matches are won and lost in critical moments. Mental toughness determines who executes under pressure, who recovers from setbacks, and who maintains concentration throughout 60 intense minutes.
Deception is the great equaliser in handball. Smaller, less powerful players can beat defenders through feints and misdirection. Mastering these skills creates breakthrough opportunities against even the most organised defences.
