Players stand in groups behind different cones.
Players must pass the ball to the player opposite them and then follow their pass behind the player on the opposite side.
Players can use a variation of passes:
Center shot, jump shot (3,2,1 step rhythm), push pass, bounce pass, double handed pass, rolled pass, pass using your weaker hand etc.
Warming up with the ball is more interesting than without. Although this is a defending session, the attackers should not be forgotten. To train defenders, you still need attackers, and it is the same the other way round, be sure to remind players this.
Put a defender between every line of passing and running to make passing and running more difficult.
Every time a pass is stolen, the attacker and defender should change places.
Handball demands explosive power, repeated sprint ability, and the strength to compete physically for 60 minutes. Sport-specific conditioning develops the athletic qualities that underpin elite performance.
Handball matches are won and lost in critical moments. Mental toughness determines who executes under pressure, who recovers from setbacks, and who maintains concentration throughout 60 intense minutes.
Deception is the great equaliser in handball. Smaller, less powerful players can beat defenders through feints and misdirection. Mastering these skills creates breakthrough opportunities against even the most organised defences.
