DESCRIPTION

Players work in groups of three, each starting with a ball.
They move the ball around the circle making one handed offloads to eachother

Progression

Players stand further apart

COACHING POINTS

Players should keep both hands in a catch ready position. Like in a game how they should always be expecting the ball.
When standing close together players should just lift the ball up softly, making it easy for their team mate.
When standing further apart players need to really push the pass. Not swinging the ball too much otherwise it risks the going in any direction.
Players should always keep their eyes on the ball or where they are passing to.

OFTEN USED WITH...

On your back - rolling pass:

Set Up

Between 3 to 15 players - 1 to 4 ration of ball to players - players spaced no more than 5m apart

Players catches ball - falls onto back and pops ball off one or two handed to free player

Off Loads

Offloading technique:

Ball
Groups of 3+

2 attackers line up opposite a defender.
The defender makes a low leg tackle on the atttacker.
The attacker being tackled tries to get arms free and perfom an offload to the supporting runner.

Off Loads

2 x Hit then pass:

Set up the practice as shown inside a 30m x 30m Grid.

6 Shields and 1 Ball.

Player 1 carries the ball before passing the ball to player 2 who bursts through the shields. Once through the other side, 2 passes to 3 and receives a return pass before bursting through the next set of shields

Once they are through the last two players with shields can move and try and block the runners. Player 2 has the option to pass to either player or go it alone.
