This session ensures all your players have the correct technique for a punt kick - a great skill your players can use in attack and defence.
Punts can be beneficial to gain possession or territory, so it's essential your players practice this skill. Your coaching goal for this session should be to get all your players kicking strongly. It's unrealistic to get them kicking off both feet, however all players need the ability to kick and understand why and when they should kick.
What's in the Session?
To get your players dropping the ball leaning forward, pointing their shoulders towards their target and striking the ball with their laces, we start with a simple kicking in pairs warm up before developing the skill with two realistic game situation practices. These practices will test your players' ability to punt under pressure.
Before it's time for home we then bring proceedings to a close with a conditioned game of "Get your kick on", designed to get your players thinking about kicking for possession and for territory.
