Hockey: 1v1 - Scoring Challeng...

Set up two lines of players as show in the image. The players with the ball start from the middle of the pitch on the 23m line and run out towards the side of the pitch. <hr /> The first player (blue) runs with the ball at pace and then stops the ball inside the box in front of the other player. The blue player continues their run around the cone in front of them and then runs back inside the area. The receiver (red) runs onto the ball left by the first runner and then runs into the D and tries to finish through one of the wide goals. The blue player should have continued their run and now tries to put pressure on the receiver's shot.

Blue player 1 runs around the cone and receives the ball from Red player 1 as they reach the cone, before entering the circle and shooting at goal. Blue player 2 then runs around the cone and passes the ball to Red player 2 who receives the ball and runs on to shoot at goal.

Changing the point of attack S...

Player 1 starts with the ball and runs down the wing. The defender puts on some pressure . Just before player 1 loses the ball he/she turns away from the defender and passes the ball to player 2 or through a zone with defender 2 in it.(This defender can only try and intercept the pass). When player 2 or 3 receives the ball he/she plays the ball to player 4 who runs into the circle and has a shot at goal. The players follows his/her pass.<br />Pass and follow sequence 1-(2 or 3)-4 (defender 1 and 2 should be switched every so often).

1 v 1 - Under Pressure Samples...

Blue player 1 skates with the puck and shoots on goal. After the shot they then skate and touch the goal post.Once the blue player has touched the post the second player can set off, skating with the puck towards the goal, with the blue player behind them putting them under pressure.

Objective: To be able to hit the ball off the right foot accurately and flat. Purpose: Hitting off the right foot allows for the ball to be hit earlier, can open up different passing channels and is useful when running at pace. Structure: Pairs

2 players have to try and pass the ball to each other. While the other 2 players have to close down the player on the ball. The defenders can tackle and intercept. The attackers can move anywhere along the line.

Setup the practice as shown.Two players putting pressure on goalkeeper.Coach feeds the ball for the goalkeeper to kick through the attackers.If the attacker intercepts the ball then they shoot at goal.

- Pitch split into 9 zones (3 x 3)<br />- 6 players<br />- Players should post between the different areas to move up the pitch<br />- Can pass through an entire box  i.e. left wing all the way to right wing

Full Press - Puting Pressure o...

The basis of the press is that no player commits to the ball but a team screen is set up in the decided territory of the pitch. The aim is not to try and steal the ball from the opposition, but instead to make the opposition give the ball to you. By pushing up you are trying to make the opposition make a mistake in trying to run or pass the ball out of these areas. After intercepting a bad pass your team should be looking to break and score. When to use: The Full Press should take place only if: The opposition has a free hit in one of the 2 zones shown in the diagram.<br /><br /> Or a player in possession in the 23m area is given a very bad bobbly pass to their reverse stick side. However, this is slightly harder to read as all players need to react, because of this this tactic is probably not worth exploring to begin with. Your team's press should prevent all lateral (sideways) passes across the pitch. All other passing options are easier to close down if you use the side lines to your advantage.

Setup as shown.Rebounders start 3m away and then move in once the ball is fed in.The coach feeds the ball into the goalkeeper who attempts to save / clear the ball avoiding the rebounders and the coach.Increase intensity of the practice by moving players closer to goalkeeper.

1 Player passes the ball to the player through the cones then follows it to put pressure on the receiver. The receiver has to try and pass the ball to the player left or right, and then follows the ball to take that players position. The second player receiving the ball runs back to the start.

Objective: Direct the received pass in the direction of the baseline to open up the optimal shooting angle.Purpose: Increase the chances of hitting the target and therefore scoring a goal.Set-up: <li dir=&quot;ltr&quot;>A midfield passer will start with the ball and wait for an attacker to make a run on the edge of the D. <li dir=&quot;ltr&quot;>Attacker will initially run towards the passer to show for the ball, then peel off, aiming their run towards the baseline.<li dir=&quot;ltr&quot;>At this point, the passer will play the ball into the attackers path.<li dir=&quot;ltr&quot;dir=&quot;ltr&quot;>The attacker should take a receiving touch, followed by a shot at goal off their left foot.

Player 2 (left wing) receives ball from the Player 1 (left midfield) and takes the ball into the zone where the defender can try and win the ball. Just before player 2 loses the ball he/she turns away from the RD and passes the ball to palyer 1. It is important that this player stays outside the 23m area and straight behind player 2. When player 1 receives the ball he/she plays the ball to player 3 who runs into the circle and has a shot at goal.<br />Every player then follows their own pass. and takes up their new position. Next player then starts.
