Set the pitch out as shown lots of ball son the side line. The 2 teams play normal 5 a-side. When the whistle goes player in possession leaves the ball and runs to the side line to continue play with a new ball. The rest of the team have to clear the last ball off the pitch (for safety)

2 players have to cleverly pass the ball to each other to create an opportunity to pass through the goal to the other side (into space). The defender can only intercept once the ball has gone through the goal.

Players run into the triangle stop the ball by the cone. Player the should take a self pass by pulling the ball back away from the cone before running out of the triangle left or right and passing the ball to the front of the opposite queue of players.

This is a basic practice to help teach players a simple pattern to get the ball out of the back. Gold players start with a sideline hit and the red players start with a 16 yard hit. Player 1 on the red team dribbles the ball towards the side line and reverse turns to pass the ball to Red 2 who in turn passes the the ball to red 3. Red 1 runs up the pitch to receive the ball back from red 3 before passing to red 3 who runs with the ball to towards the back line. Gold players do the same but start with from the sideline.

2 equal teams in the circle and lots of balls on both side lines. The coach calls out a team. 1 of the players has to run to one of the sidelines and take the freehit. All the other players have to run to the 23 metre line before they can get involved. After each break down or shot at goal, coach calls out the next team.

The blue player 1 takes ball to white player 1. Coach blows their whistle, simulating a foul by blue 1. The first white player then plays a self pass to create a 2 vs 1, running at blue 2 and linking with white player 2. Blue 1 can chase back but is not allowed to challenge the ball for the first 5 meters. The aim of the game is to get the ball to player 3 on the far post as soon as possible.

RM (starting with the ball), passes to RW who first time (wall) passes it back. The RM then passes the ball to RW who runs in field with the ball. RM then overlaps and this means that the RW has two options: a) pass the ball to overlapping player or b) straighten up and go for the goal him/her self. RM passes the ball to forehand of RW who then adds to the pass and plays 1 v 1 against the defender.

Difficulty of the skill: Red - a difficult core skill for ages 7-9 years and upwards. As players progress and develop the difficulty of the skill should reduce. What does it mean? Closing down and dictating to the ball carrier where they can and cannot move with the ball. The defending player looks to channel the ball carrier in order to make them either push the ball off the pitch; create a tackling opportunity ;or to provide another teammate with an opportunity to make a tackle. Example of the skill Channelling enables the defender to have maximum control of the situation. If in the middle of the pitch the defending player would look to channel the player towards their (defending players) right hand (open stick side) or alternatively to either a teammates stick or towards the sideline.

Purpose: When a winger leads out towards the line and the ball is played up towards them, being able to trap the ball on their backhand and maintain forward momentum keeps the speed in the attack. The aim of this exercise is to encourage the players to attack down the wings. The attacking team is not allowed to pass or attack through the zone. Defenders, on winning the ball, have to try and get the ball out of the 23m area, also wide of the zone.

The team has to pass the ball around the team using two touches. However, when ever players run out of position, a player misses the ball or runs with the ball, the coach throws in a new ball and the team has to react to the new ball (keeping the shape of the team at all times).

The player on the free hits starts to move to try and draw the defender to come out. As soon as the defender moves towards the ball the player passes the ball to the player moving out of the D to receive the ball just outside the circle. The player receiving lets the ball role on with the stick and shoots reverse or pulls the ball round to the forhand to get a shortcorner or to shoot with the forehand.

Divide your players into two teams of 6 and split the pitch into 3 areas with each area being approximately 15 meters in height.The condition for this game is that 2 players from both teams have to stay in the top third of the pitch (the opposition's scoring area) and cannot run back to offer support in the defence.This creates the 5v3 overload situation and should result in a high scoring game.

In this you set out 2 colours of cones. Player 1 after having passed the ball will run to the red cones and player 2 will run from blue to blue. You can set out any pattern you want to teach your players.

Split the players up into two groups for a relay type exercise which starts with one player from group 1 running with a ball to the goal on the half way line, trying to score a goal. As soon as player 1 has had a shot at goal a player from group 2 runs with a ball to the other goal to try to score a goal. The player that had the first shot (player 1) has to try and defend against the player from group 2. When this player scores or loses the ball to the defender the next player starts from group 1 and the player that has just taken the shot becomes the new defender. The player that had the first shot and then defended (player 1) goes to the back of theirre queue.

The LD takes a hit in from the side line. Their compulsory pass is to the the SW. As soon as the ball is played the 3 players with the ball have to get the ball out of the 23m area. (Tip is that one ot the 3 players with the ball always takes a position between the two defenders).
