information on 1442 and 11333 systems. I am fairly new to sportplan so hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. I am from Australia so know the GK-2-3-5 set up well. I would like to possibly employ a GK-4-4-2 / GK -1-3-4-2 set up or a GK-1-3-3-3. What I need is information on How players are set up, Forward press set ups, defencive zone set ups and attacking methods. For a bonus it would be great to know how they set up against a GK-2-3-5 as most of our oposition teams play this or a gk-2-3-3-2 Cheers
Which of the sportplan INDOOR plans are now appropriate to the 5v5 format OR do you have any to share?
Suggestions on how to play this system. I have very young 1st team so feel i must play defensive hockey. Thanks
Does anyone have a link to pages with the different styles of hockey and description of each position. Roles and responsibilities for each position. I am trying anew system with teenage girls and need help. System is a 1.1.2.3.4 system
I have paid my subscription via iCloud (Apple) but I am being asked to upgrade to a full member. I am sensing you have a delta in your payment systems. ie payment via apple subscription is not immediate. please confirm ASAP as my plans for this evening have been dashed.
Suggestions on how to play this system. I have very young 1st team so feel i must play defensive hockey. Thanks
the opposition is now playing with 1 goalie, 2 d, 4 mid and 4 forwards it just seems they are everywhere and my mid field can not deal with the extra player. I was going to counter with a 1-4-4-2 but the girls are not used to it. we play a 1-4-3-3.
Can you please assist me, I am coaching the 1st school team (0/18). we are playing 3-3-3-1 but there is a big gap between the forwards and links and also between the links and the backs. How can I change that. Is there any excercises that I can do with them or must we rather change the system??
Dear colleagues, I am coaching a 1st women team (Argentina) and the system that is working for us very well is 3-1-3-3. Given the quality players we've got in the midfield and attack we try to emphasize our offensive game all the time. The problem I am struggling to resolve is that the forwards do not get involved in chances to score inside the circle very often. The few chances the forwards have they are able to score but it is our midfielders who most of the time get to the circle in possession with the ball. I would like to see a quick transfer of the ball from the midfielders to the forwards who need to be in touch with the ball more often during the game and have the midfielders supporting the attack rather than being the leaders of the attack. Is there any drill or way to improve this aspect of the game? Thanks for your time. Martin

Hi, I am a new coach to field hockey and would like any drills or tips to train a new team shape. I am also interested in training 3/4 and 1/2 pitch presses, any tips??Cheers.
I have just returned from coaching my first high school hockey tournament. It was great fun but the girls really felt it by the end of the tournament. I want to offer guidance in the form of a fitness build up to the girls for next season but am not sure what my expectations should be. How fit should you be looking to get if you are preparing to play 7 50min games over 5 days? And what types of fitness should I be suggesting? Sprinting and Intervals along with Swimming are things I feel that could be introduced. Ideally it needs to be accessable (not expensive or require special equipment), self managed (to an extent) and let it fit in with their daily rountine as best possible to give them the best chance to commit (i.e. I feel like suggesting they power walk to school rather than get dropped off will work better than asking them to join a gym to do the pelaton classes) Any ideas? Or things that have worked in the past?
I have a voucher as part of the level 1 coaching course I am doing. I have registered it but how do I use it? I seem to be limited to 15 free drills a month, but I think I should not be.
My daughter plays U13 hockey in the position of right wing. She gets different advice from her school coach and her club coach.I want to make sure that she is getting the right advice as she is passionate about her hockey. Firstly, exactly what is the full function of a right wing at this level of hockey (she will be going to U15 club hockey and U14 school hockey next season) She has a good understanding of the game and appears to me to read it well (I only played school level many years ago and things change) When her team is in the offensive position in the âDâ she mostly waits at goal post to deflect ball into goal. She appears to not be involved. Comments from spectators have been made as to why she just stands there. There is a very skilled player in her team who hits the ball EXTREMELY hard. I believe that at this level of hockey these extremely hard hits/passes do not achieve anything, they just keep going out. However, please can you advise on how to stop and control these very hard passes (that is if one can get to them) in order to move on with the game. Lastly, can you send some drills/exercises to get her eye in as well as positioning her body correctly for goal shooting. The âhard hitterâ and my daughter seem to be the main goal shooters of the team. Many thanks Lynne
What is the best way to position teams for 8 a side hockey?
FORMATION HELP NEEDED! What formation would be suitable for a mixed gender team aged 16-18!? Most of the players have not played anything other then 442, but i want to attack with 3 forwards. any suggestions?
Who can help me to develop a tool to manage the substitutional players during a match? I manage a team of 15 girls of 12-14 years old with different levels of hockey experience. To arrange the substitutes is quite complicated and I am searching for a helpful tool.
Hi all- I am 37 years old. I played field hockey for 3 years only (in high school). As you can imagine, I'm not very good/experienced. I was a competitive soccer player which made me good enough athletically to play field hockey but anyway, the point is: I never played field hockey at a high level.I now find myself in a head coaching position. (Long story-I did coach some field hockey some years ago and had a blast but it was a while back). Anyway, I have three assistant coaches who aren't much more experienced than I am. Our high school program is VERY weak and so nobody really steps up to coach there.Basically, my question is: what do I do? I have some girls who have played but not much. Then I have girls who literally don't know how to hold their stick and are quite I athletic. We barely have enough girls to field a team. As for drills, I'm trying to use this site but if you were in my position, what specifically would you be doing with these girls so they don't lose 7-0 every game? Right now, I'm focusing on body control and comfort with the ball- (we are playing possession and they are so uncomfortable they just hit the ball away because they don't have the skills to hold). Any help you can give is greatly appreciated!Brooke Asked using Sportplan Mobile App
