Players can gain extra runs for choosing the right shot, technically execution and aiming the shot for space between the fielders. Aid teh decision of which shot to be played by advising the players that a ball pitched/bowled down the middle channel should be played as a drive or straight shot, and a ball picthed/bowled down a side/outer channel shot be player to the side it on EG a ball pitched on the off side should be played on the off side.
Drill allows coach todetermine whether batters deserve extra runs for their batting effort and ability. This also allows the coach to observe the players batting ability more carefully allowing real time feedback to be used to devleop the skill during the practise.
