Practice aims to give your players different ways the can receive the ball from a pass. Within an area suitable for your age group, have multiple coned squares âpost boxâ spaced out within. Have some players start in a square each, other in a space away from the squares with a ball âletterâ Players with the ball will start by dribbling around then try to find a player standing in a box, play a pass to them then follow the pass waiting in the square to receive. The player receiving can try to receive with any part of their foot and try to exit the square within three touches, but not out of the same way the pass came in. Play for 2-3mins tithes add in progressions to add a challenge
Be Brave - Try to receive on different parts of your foot (inside, outside, top of foot, sole) and practice with both feet Control - weight of first and second touch so the ball isnât stuck under your feet. Awareness - Scan whilst dribbling to see who is waiting to receive Communication - Can the receiver make a connection with a player on the ball before the pass is played (make eye contact, say players name, gesture/point where you want it) Weight of pass/type of pass - Play a pass that you would want to receive.
