Community | Perimeter Warm-up Jog

Zdan Korduba Coach, England

DESCRIPTION

Players line up in two even rows. Coach will choose which row will be the "Leader" row. The front player of this row will decide the direction the squad will jog. They squad may run the perimeter or diagonally. On the coach's whistle, the last two players will sprint to the front of the squad. This will then create a new player leading the direction in the "Leader" row.

COACHING POINTS

The key is not speed. Start squad off by running at 25-50% speed. The important part of this warmup is for the players to jog as a squad. Staying together in rows, next to their partners, and also at a speed that everyone can run at. TEAMWORK! If a player is slower than the rest, the squad must work together by slowing down when it is that players to sprint to the front.
