Rugby: Counter Attack Drill

Description

Mark off a large area of play

3 players are on the far end as the recievers

3 players are on the other side as the kicking team

ball is played in to the first reciever who kicks the ball to the recieving team. Recieving team counterattacks, trying to score behind the cones

kicking team defends the counterattack

once play is dead, kicking team goes to the recieving team and recieving team goes off. new three go to kicking team

Coaching points

the goal of this is to work on comminucation in the counterattack and properly defending a counterattack

the counterattacking team should look to create space in the defense
