DRILL TYPE: Tennis Skills FOCUS: Groundstrokes Progressions SKILL LEVEL: Red/ Orange Ball 1 EQUIPMENT: 6 Colored Poly Spots 25â Youth Racquets Bucket of Red/ Foam Balls SETUP: On the opposite side of the net, place 6 Poly Spots on the court. 2 at the opposite side of the baseline/ singles sideline. 2 at the opposite singles sideline at the service line. 1 at the center mark and 1 at the center service line and service line. ( see diagram). DRILL: The coach is on the opposite side of the net with a basket of balls. The players start at home base, they must hit whatever shot is being worked on. From home base, the player gets 1 chance, if they make the shot, they can move to the next spot. If they miss, they lose their turn. After home base, they get a second chance at all other spots The player has a choice if they want the 2 chance at a shot, if they choose not to chance it, they stay right where they are. If they take a chance and make the shot, they can move on to the next spot location, but if they miss, they go back to the starting point, and lose their turn. The object is to get all the way around the spots ( the world).
