Martin Jørgensen Coach, Denmark

DESCRIPTION

Warm up drill for 3 (or 2) players. Groundstrokes. Two players in one end and one player alone. The two players starts by hitting “2 & 2”, meaning two to the forhand side and two to the backhand side. The player who is alone can hit to which ever side he/she wants to. No matter where the ball goes, the two players on the same side shoul pay attention and focus so that the player who is alone will get “2 & 2”. The coach times this and at one point gives the instructions to go “1 & 1”, meaning that the two players now must hit one shot to the forhand and one shot to the backhand. All three players should go through the drill as the one alone. variation with two players: make one of them hit “2 & 2” and the other should only hit to the center.

COACHING POINTS

Make sure that everyone is at their toes from begining. And keep them focused on the task. It is a good warm up drill and good for getting the feet going, instead of just hitting without a plan.
