Set up:

Goal
6+ players (at least 2 players at each corner)
2 lines
1 ball

A player (player 1) starts out of the lines facing back at the line (line A).
1st player (player 2) in the other line (line B) drives directly out to the same distance as player 1.
Player at the front of line A starts with the ball and passes the ball diagonally to the player 2 who has driven out from line B.
Player 1 is to drive across to intercept the pass to player 2.
If successful player 1 passes to line B and joins the line, if not, player 2 will have received the ball and passes to line B (player 1 still joins the line).
Player 2 then becomes the person intercepting as another palyer drives out from line A.
The process is the same but opposite lines.

COACHING POINTS

Players must time the intercept so they are not waiting and encourages a hard drive on to the ball.

Players passing the ball must make sure they are passing to the player waiting rather than the player intercepting.

If the player tips the ball they must try and pull the ball in or chase the tip and keep it on court.

PROGRESSION

If the player does not make the intercept, they can attempt a second intercept where the player at the "post" (where the ball was being passed to) attempts a pass back to the line who now needs the ball. The intercepting player attempts and intercept here.

Arms up defence:

Set up: 1 ball, one third space, 1 feeder in between 2 lines of players in partners.

Feeder sends ball into open court space.

Players contest for the loose ball. Player who does not receive the ball becomes the defender. Defender gets three feet and arms over the ball.

Player with the ball passes back to feeder.

Footwork

Pocket drop defence:

Set up: 1 ball, half court space, 4 players.

Players set up as if the ball is to be taken from the midcourt into the shooting circle.

Aim is for GK/GD to time an intercept that will be delivered into the pocket.

Movement

GK Interceptions:

Inside the shooting circle set up a smaller semicircle with cones, dividing the the semicircle into an inner and outer section of roughly the same width.

Feeder starts play in the goal third, to one side. The GS runs out of the circle to receive the pass. They then have the option to pass to an attacker (who is on the edge of the circle opposite to the side feeder) or to pass back to the unmarked feeder who has run in.

Whichever of these receives the ball will pass it back to the attacker once the attacker has run into the circle.

Points:

If the attacker receives the ball inside the inner circle then they get 1pt.
If the defender makes a successful intercept or forces the attacker to receive the ball in the area of the circle outside of the cones then they get 1pt.

The first to 5 points wins.

If the attacker receives the ball you can get them to take a shot, and have the defender recover quickly to mark.

Defence

Defensive decisions:

5 players, 1 ball, half court space.

2 players set up near baseline as posts (one in circle and one in pocket).

1 defensive player is set up between the two posts.

2 working players start on half way with the ball. They pass the ball down the court between eachother. Either player delivers a ball to one of the posts.

The defender has to attempt a flying intercpet.
