DESCRIPTION

*AUDIO DESCRIPTION ON*

8+ players in 2 lines facing opposite eachother at diagonal points of a rectangle. One player at the start of one line with the ball.
Player at the front of the other line drives to the space opposite the player with the ball and recieves the long pass.
They then pass back to the line they came from with the short pass and join the back of that line.
Same thing happens from the opposite line.
As the coach calls "short" or "long" the rectangle to get larger or smaller.

COACHING POINTS

Ensure the rectangular shape is maintained.
Players need to turn inwards, in the air when receiving the ball.
Short and fast movements.

PROGRESSION

Add an intercept. Once the pass has gone, that player is to follow and go for the intercept in the next phase. This helps players get out of the mindset that the job is done once they have got the pass away.

Beat the defender:

Set up: A wall, one third space, one ball, 4+ cones, 2 players.

4 cones are set up in a zig zag formation down the length of a third space towards a wall.
The ball is placed on the furthest away cone.
A defending player stands in the middle of the cones, they are to ‘pick up’ the attacker when they drive out.
The attacker, drives out towards the first cone and zig zags towards all cones to move past the defender and get the ball off the cone.
The attacker passes the ball to the wall and gets the rebound.

Movement

Delivering ball to shooters:

Delivering the ball midcourt through to the circle edge/shooters

Set up:

Half court, two balls, 5+ players

1 player standing on base line, another player with the ball standing around the third line.

Description:

Note: The video shows the drill being played out with 2 groups of players, you could just focus on one group i.e. 1 line, 1 V driver. The description is based on one group.

Player on base line near shooting post, V drives towards court edge and receives a pass from the player in the line with the ball.

Player who passes the ball drives directly to the circle edge in a straight line and receives a pass from the player who has driven out on the V.

Player who had initially drove out now drives into a position under the hoop to receive a pass from their player and put a shot up.

Shooting

Zig Zag- Finding Space and Changing Direction:

*AUDIO DESCRIPTION ON*

Set up: Half court, 3 stationary feeders, 3 balls, 1 attacker, 1-3 defence.

Feeders are placed in an extended triangle formation. Each feeder has a ball.
Attacker drives out from transverse line to first feeder where a pass is received, attacker returns pass and moves around the feeder.
Attacker does so with the other two feeders in the extended triangle formation creating a 'zig zag'.
Attacker works her way through the 'zig zag' in both directions without errors.

Movement

The Bow:

*AUDIO DESCRIPTION ON*

Set up: Five cones set up as a square with one cone in the center, 1 ball, 4-6 players.

Two feeding players are set up in between cones in line with the center cone.
Two attacking players start on the centre cone and choose a corner cone to drive out to, each driving to opposite cones.
Attackers time their drive so they receive their pass on the centre cone.
Attackers are to create a âbowâ shape by driving to the outer cones one at a time and receiving a pass on the middle cone between each drive.
