Netball: Side to Side

Improve your players' passing and catching skills to help them keep possession and create as many attempts on goal as possible

Players work with one ball in pairs inside a square area. The player without a ball (Red 1) sprints across the box to receive the ball on the other side.

Player 1 then turns as they receive the pass. Red 2 then runs across to receive ball on the other side etc.

Make sure players are balanced and are in control before they make the next pass.

The worker must not move across the square until the feeder is ready to release the ball.

The Player in the middle has to, on reciept of the ball, pass the ball onto a player that does not have a ball. This can not be to the player that just passed them the ball.

4 cones are placed as shown in diagram and players work in pairs with one ball.

The worker (red) runs to any cone, changes direction and receives ball from feeder back in the centre.

This practice works on a quick change of direction.

Split your group into 8s (2 balls are needed for this pass and move exercise).

The balls start on opposite corners and are passed clockwise. Each worker, after having passed the ball, swaps places with the player across the square that passed the ball at the same time.
