DESCRIPTION

Shooting circle, hoop, 3x cones, 1+ players.

Players take a shot from the three chosen points around the shooting circle.

Starting at the closest cone, when successful, the player moves out to the next cone.

COACHING POINTS

Encourage good shooting practice e.g. bend knees, follow through.

You could create this as a team finisher - as one successful shot is taken the next person in the team goes until a variety of cones have been shot from.

Shooters Agility Drill:

*AUDIO DESCRIPTION ON*

Set up: half court space, 1 ladder, 6 cones, 2 ball, 2+ players.

Player A starts in the shooting circle, the other player, B, on half way.

Player B, on halfway runs little feet through the ladder.

At the end of the ladder, 3 cones are set up in an L formation.

Player B runs in the L formation twice then drives to top of the circle.

Player A, inside the circle feeds the ball to player B at the top of the circle and drives out.

Running player drives towards the base of the post then on an angle out towards the feeding player who delivers the ball back into the player who puts up a shot.

Sprinting with defenders:

In Pairs.

Blue players stand in front of white. White players run towards one line, sudden change of direction and sprint back to try and lose the defence. Defence start as static defence, then become active.

Getting free

1 vs 1 Defending in the Circle:

Slowly the two attackers pass the ball back and forth down the court towards the circle. The defender must move to the ball side of the player inside the circle.

The defender must remain on their toes and keep moving as the two attacking players can put the ball into the circle at any point.

10 Balls Anywhere:

Have the players get into pairs.

One player starts with the ball and drops, places or throws the ball in random places around a semi circular area.

The other player in the pair stands around a metre opposite keeping a close eye on the ball. They need to react as quickly as possible to gather the ball either before it bounces or after only 1 bounce.

After 10, have the players swap over so that the passer is now reacting to the ball.
