One of the girls on my U13's team knows how to run, pass, intercept and get free during training however in a game she dulls all of her skills down and doesn't do anything? She will literally stand still in her position and occasionally have an extreme delayed reaction to defend a ball. Any ideas on how to motivate her nicely in a game?
talk to her with a parent or another coach around. make sure she understands that you can see she has so many good and sounds skills at training but are a little confused about why she doesnt bring them to a game? find out what is the issue, and that way you can deal with the problem. if she is motivated during training but not games, it isnt necessarily a case of not being motivated.

in more ways than one
Tight markers win when attackers run in straight lines. Teach your players to dodge, change pace and time their drive so they get free when the ball is ready.
When everyone chases the ball, nobody is free. Teach your team to spread out, offer two options and clear space so the ball moves cleanly down court.
A shooter who can hold a strong position under the post is worth more than one who runs all over the circle. Here is how to coach body shape, a legal hold and a well-timed release, and how feeders make the most of it.
