How do you push 11 B's to thier full potential with out turning them off the game?
Hi, I am 15 and play A grade. I also coach an U11B team. Some of the girls are absolutly outsanding and could very easily play A grade in the future but they refuse to listen to me and my co-coach who is also 15. Any suggestions on how to really push the girls to thier full potentiall without being to hard on them?
Hi Jess & Co Coach. Well done in taking up the role of coaches. Our chosen sport needs young players like yourselves to pass on their knowledge. It is difficult to keep the attention of younger players. This is due to their short attention span. My suggestion to you is to always make sure you have a plan for your training sessions. It is best to write them down so you dont forget. Start with fun warm up sessions. Make sure each drill session is not too long 5-10 mins max. You can find some good ones on this site. Try to keep your sessions interesting especially the drills. You can ask the players if they can add to the drill that will encourage them to perform as they have an invested interest in it. Always give praise and dont criticise. Make sure you have time at the end of your session for a quick game followed by a talk on hoe the session went, Let them contribute to the discussion.
