The 10-year-olds that I teach do really well at training, but can't seem to get the ball to the shooters in the actual matches. Help?
I don't know if it's because they struggle to cope under pressure, or for any other reason. They do practice matches every week, so I don't think it could be to do with lack of match experience. Any suggestions?
You could try, if there is another team around, to have a training game against them. Even if they are a few years older, it is good practice and it will improve their skills and also bond them as a team.
if you are already doing practise matches at training then it may be a case of nerves on the day. time might be the only solution to get them experience.
for something fun have a kids vs parents game and tell the parents to hassle them but not go all out and have the girls be given pressure but controlled. and its a lot of fun and the hassle factor is always good for them. if they can pull it together then you might be able to use the experience as a way to reduce their nerves.
