To Change or not to change...Positions?
I have began coaching Under 9's this season, we have played 3 games and I have kept the girls mostly in the same positions as my plan was to spend a few weeks in an Attacking Position, then a few in a defending position and then say the last 5 games in the area you are best at and enjoy the most. I was planning to change positions for this Saturdays game, but training has been cancelled due to bad weather. My question is, do I change their positions on game day with limited time to do any sort of game plan etc or do I just keep the same as the past 3 games? I know there is no right or wrong however I am interested in your opinions.
Hi, I would recomend against a player change as the young players haven`t been coached in their new positions. Under 9`s is about familiarity and if you haven`t altered positions prior, if you can I advise against causing any undue confusion and leave them where they are familiar until next training session?
are you in a netta competition? if so arent you required to rotated the girls quarter by quarter through all the positions?
if not, i wouldnt change the positions as it would be confusing without a little bit of training.
I thought in Netta you were meant to change positions each quarter and was given a player rotation from our association. However the kids were finding it confusing I then found a different rotation (thanks google) which allowed them to stay in the same position for 2 quarters depending on number of players and when they change it`s usually to a similiar position ie WA may change to GA and GD may change to GK. If you haven`t been rotating I would leave as is as well.
