Where should I position players on the court for a throw-in from the backline?
If it a backline pass then i would position the GK to take the pass and then have the GD in the goal D and have the C closest to the GK on the ouside of the D so defender will not be able to recieve the ball. I would then put the WD on the other isde of the D so it creates more space and it is hard for WA to intercept the ball. i would then have teh GA and WA in the center third by the line so they can create more space with in the center. i would then put the GS inside her own D so she is ready to recieve the ball and shoot.
for a throw in i would have 1 player close to the girl who is taking the pass and then i would have the rest of the girls further away, once the whisle is blown i would then make one or two of the girls to run in so the defender is unware of what they are doing so they cannot intercept the ball.
I hope this helps

If this is a defensive throw in there are many set ups that can be used but a very basic set up to get everyone starting from their own areas of play to avoid confusion is GK takes thrown in, GD sets up holding space towards the middle of goal third , WD sets up holding space on the inside of her player(relative to where ball is) and on the 45 angle of circle edge, Centre stays in Centre third at or near the transverse line. With new to netball I start with GD or WD making first offer for receiving the throw in when it is on their side of the goal post. Second offer comes from C driving into high middle of goal (just over transverse line) and third if needed comes from either WD or GD depending on who made first offer. Absolutely no leads should be made into the goal ring and GD,WD &C should not compete with each other to receive the pass. After a few games you will work out what may work best for your team and change it around but the idea is for GK to get the pass well clear of the goal ring and as close to the transverse line as possible. Hmmm...just noticed 3 year old question???
