does anyone have a getting in front drill for an U12's team
the most basic drill I use for any age is to have 2 players set up beside each other and one feeder directly in front at least 10m away with the ball. On your whistle/instruction they both run towards the feeder and the player who has their shoulders in front the feeder will pass them the ball.
the other drill I use is in conjunction with teaching preliminary moves (ie straight line drive, inside/outside cut, dodge/double dodge, change of pace ect). I line up 2 players on the transverse line as if there is a centre pass. the feeder has the ball and is in the circle. The attacker (receiver of the pass) is on outside of the defender (ie attacker is closest to the sideline and the defender is closer to the ball). The attacker must get ballside (ie there is no defender between the attacker and the ball) by using one of the prelim moves you have taught them. Don`t let them just use the same one again and again, nor allow the feeder to pass them the ball if they are not ball side. ensure you use both sides of the court for set up. I use this as a warm up before games. You can also do a conditional game where the pass must be only to a player who is ballside. if it isn`t then the ball is turned over.
hope that helps.
