This is a layup drill that adds defensive elements and results in more reps for every player
Ideally, these layups will alternate. One line begins and the other waits for the first layup before beginning. Two groups line up, similar to a standard layup drill. However, both sides have a ball. One side begins with the ballhandler shooting a layup and grabbing the ball out of the net. Meanwhile, 1 defender is at the rim and will take a swipe at the ball during the layup. After the shot, the ballhandler grabs the ball and dribbles out of the key with pressure and passes to the next person in the line they came from. They then cut hard to the 3pt line with the defender trying to deny the ball. The person with the ball makes an immediate pass to the "teammate" on the 3pt line, and the ballhandler drives hard down the baseline to make a layup from the side angle. The ballhandler grabs the ball out of the net again and passes to the next player in the opposite line and becomes the new defender on that side. The original defender will move to the back of the nearest line.
