A simple 2 v 2 drill that will look at drawing the first defender and seeing if the attacking players can make a gap to hit. The goal here is to find make a clear gap but hitting the weak shoulder is the most probable outcome and is accepted as being successful. Cones are set up 12m apart (allowing for a 2m lineout and then 2 offside lines of 5m) 2 defenders will set up with hit shields and 2 attackers will set up in an attacking formation (let the attacking players make the mistake of setting up flat to start with and then correct them after a few reps). A scrum half (or coach) will set up in the usual scrum half position off a lineout and will feed the ball the the first receiver.
