DESCRIPTION

Red ball carrier takes the ball into contact, kills the ball and presents. Blue defender with a pad, leans over ball in a jackal position. Red support player, starting in a bear crawl position, comes through the gate and clears the pad. PROGRESSION Ball carrier takes ball into contact, kills the ball and presents. First tackler is trying to jackal ball, following release and quick to feet. 2 support players set off from the side of the tackle area. Coming through the gate the first support player clears out jackal and 2nd gets rid of secondary threat. National Key Themes: Enter through gate Identify threats and visual cues Win the shoulder to chest battle Remove immediate threat - hips past the ball Shoulder to chest battle and/or identify windows Identify secondary threat Remove secondary threat or secure ball (take space past the ball and hold position) In or out (has the ball been won?) Assist the clear - remove additional threats Pick, lift or pass
