Community | Ruck - Decision Making

Christopher Wilson Coach, United States of America

DESCRIPTION

In the middle of a seven metre square box, set out four cones in the shape of a rectangle – three strides wide, by two deep. The cones represent the tackle "gate" and players cannot enter from the sides of the box. Place a ball in the middle of the cones. Split the players into groups of four and two and put them outside the box. When you shout "GO", both groups try to win the ball. The group of four players has to work out how many players to commit to the ruck, to both win the ball quickly and have options afterwards. Develop the rugby drill Add players to both sides. Only put two players from each side in the box and put equal numbers of attackers and defenders outside the box. Think about making the box bigger. Develop attacks after the ball has been won.
