Non stop tackle bag drill. High intensity drill designed to work players to fatigue. 5 Players - 4 on tackle bags 1 in the middle. Player in middle to tackle each bag in a circuit for 60 seconds. Tackle to be completed with correct form (same foot same shoulder, front foot close to bag etc), tackler to get back to feet quickly and move on to the next bag. Tackler to use alternate shoulders with each tackle. Players on the bags to pick them back up after tackle is completed. After 60 Seconds Player in the middle switches on to one of the tackle bags. Continue drill until all players have had a turn. Modifiers Drill can be downsized depending on numbers i.e 2/3 tackle bags 1 tackler (can allow drill to be run side by side with multiples of players involved) Tackle bags 1.5m - 2m apart. The emphasis of this drill is tackling whilst fatigued not the running in between. 60 second time frame can be modified to suit fitness of participants - recommend a minimum of 45 seconds per player. Drill can be made competitive by counting how many tackles are completed in the time limit by each player - the most tackles wins.
Ensure players are using correct form in tackle this is especially important as the players get more fatigued. Players to drive bag back with their legs - Dont dive into the tackle. Encourage players to push themselves during the exercise and dig deep! Praise younger players for their effort and good technique as and when applicable. Make sure the tackle bags don't drift too far apart during the drill!
