Community | multi angle tackle

Matthew Harris-Donoavn Coach, Wales

DESCRIPTION

Defenders stand opposite an attacker holding a tackle pad with different coloured cones jotted around them. The coach calls out one of the coloured cones, the defender goes to that coloured cone before making a tackle on the attacker. This stimulates tackling from different angles. As many of these can be set up in any sized area which will allow all players to be working. once plays have become comfortable with all angles, we progress it by changing how we communicate which cone. Instead of the coach shouting a colour, they hold up a matching cone to that of which cone the defender will be working from. This gets plays to adjust their feet to look where the call is coming from and also grt them to look up. can also include a rolling start so players then have adapt while moving.
