Rugby Drill Demonstration
|
Description
- one team starts with the ball. They can pass the ball any direction
- Attackers can’t run with the ball
- If an attacker, drops the ball or passes a non rugby style pass, then the ball is turned over
- The attacking team scores by passing the ball between any 1 of the 4 sets of goals.
- The attacking team continue attacking until they have scored through each of the 4 different sets of goals
- The defending team can try and intercept a pass but can’t dilebertly knock the ball to the ground.
Coaching points
- Short passing and moving into space is much more effective than long Hail Mary passes that allow the defenders time to steal the ball
- Players should attempt to move into space
- Encourage players to support the ball carrier
