DRILL TYPE: Group Tennis FOCUS: Groundstrokes SKILL LEVEL: Red/Orange Ball EQUIPMENT: (16) Colored Cones ( 8 green, 8 blue) ( 2) Youth Racquets ( 1) Basket of Red/ Foam Balls SETUP: Place the 16 colored cones in the middle of the service boxes, 8 on one side and the other 8 on the opposite side of the net. The coach is off to the side next to the net post with a basket of balls, on the other side at the net post is the assist coach who is the score keeper. On opposite side of the court, are the coaches who are the runners. MISSION: Divide players into two teams, both teams are on opposite side of the court at the doubles sideline. One at a time, players from each team will come to the service line, the coach will hand feed the ball to the player who will rally the ball over the net. The players will rally with each other trying to hit the other teams cones. If they hit the cone they have captured that cone, runner moves the cone to side of the team that hit the cone. The object of the game is to capture your opponent cones.
