DESCRIPTION

DRILL TYPE: Racquet Skills FOCUS: Groundstrokes Progressions EQUIPMENT: (1) 25” Youth Racquet (1) Yellow Throw Down Line (1) Quick Feet Donut (4) Colored Hula Hoops (15) Colored Cones ( 3 green, 3 orange, 3 yellow, 3 red, 3 blue) SETUP: Place the (15) colored cones and the (4) colored hoops on the opposite side of the court. Place a quick feet donut on the service line with a racquet on the spot. Setup a yellow throw down line in the backcourt for the players to stand behind. The coach setup in the alley with a basket of balls. MISSION: Have the players line up behind the the yellow throw down line. Each player will come to the service line, picks up the racquet and hit two alternating forehand and backhand groundstrokes over the net, trying to hit the targets. If the player hits a target they get a point.

COACHING POINTS

Ball and racquet control. Correct stance for the forehand and backhand.
